April 2018 – World premiere of ANPF 2016-winning play The Madres by Stephanie Alison Walker at Teatro Vista in Chicago. The Madres was also the 77th recipient of National New Play Network’s Rolling World Premiere.
March 2018 – Jami Brandli (ANPF 2010 for Technicolor Life) world premiere of her play Through the Eye of a Needle at The Road Theatre Company of North Hollywood. This piece is a companion to Brandli’s ANPF-winning play.
January 2018 – Artists Rep presents the world premiere of Magellanica by EM Lewis (ANPF Host Playwright emeritus and ANPF 2008 winner for Song of Extinction).
June 2017 – Steven Levenson (ANPF 2007 for The Language of Trees) won a 2017 Tony Award for Best Book of a Musical for Dear Evan Hansen.
June 2017 – Steven Haworth’s Fernando (ANPF 2011) first fully-staged production as part of Ice Factory 2017 summer festival at the New Ohio Theatre in NYC.
May 2017 – Cost of Living by Martyna Majok (ANPF Women’s Invitational 2016) world premiere at Williamstown Theatre Festival.
May 2017 – World premiere of Meridith Friedman’s The Luckiest People (ANPF 2015) at Curious Theatre followed by a rolling world premiere at Actor’s Theatre of Charlotte. The Luckiest People was also the 69th recipient of the National New Play Network’s Rolling World Premiere.
April 2017 – Other Than Honorable (ANPF 2013) by Jamie Pachino world premiere at Geva Theatre. Other awards for Other Than Honorable: John Gassner Playwrighting Award Competition (2015), Gulfshore Playhouse New Works Festival (2015), Blue Ink Award (2015), and among others, Honorable Mention on The Kilroys List 2015.
March 2017 – Lauren Yee’s King of the Yees (ANPF Women’s Invitational 2016) world premiere at Goodman Theatre.
March 2017 – Jiehae Park’s Hannah and the Dread Gazebo (ANPF Women’s Invitational 2016) world premiere at Oregon Shakespeare Festival.
February 2017 – Bo Wilson’s The Boatwright (ANPF 2013) regional premiere at Firehouse Theatre as part of Bo’s year-long residency at the Firehouse. The Boatwright also won AACT’s New Play Fest in 2014. Read the review here.
December 2016 – Richard Manley (ANPF 2012) won first place from the University of Central Missouri‘s Theatre for Young Audiences Award for his play Not Waving.

March 2016 – Proscenium Theatre Journal interviews James Harmon Brown (ANPF 2014, The Groyser).
“Hearing your lines and watching your characters come to life in front of a live audience is as rewarding as it gets for a writer. There’s really nothing like it anywhere else.
To put it in perspective: I’ve written some very successful television shows, been nominated for and won an Emmy, but I think the biggest thrill of my professional life was watching a group of fine actors and an outstanding director do a staged reading of ‘The Groyser’ in Ashland, Oregon, as part of the Ashland New Play Festival. They played it exactly as I heard it. And the audience responded in all the ways I wanted them to…with laughter, tears and I hope a little compassion.”
February 2016 – Maternal Spirits (ANPF 2003) by James Caputo produced at the Acting Ensemble Stage Company.
October 2015 – Technicolor Life (ANPF 2010) by Jami Brandli received its world premiere during the Women’s Voices Theatre Festival at Rep Stage. The play also won the Aurora Theatre Company GAP Prize in 2014 and the John Gassner Memorial Playwriting Award in 2010.
October 2015 – Bob Clyman’s A Little Quid Pro Quo (ANPF 2014), now titled The Good Bet, performed at Aglet Theatre. For his other plays, Clyman also received the Edgerton Foundation New American Plays Award, both in 2008 for Secret Order and in 2011 for The Exceptionals (ANPF 2010).

2015 – Jack Karp’s Irreversible (ANPF 2014) was a Mario Fratti-Fred Newman Political Play Contest winner. Irreversible had its world premiere at Red Fern Theatre Company in March 2015.
February 2015 – A Question of Words (ANPF 2013) by Richard Manley received full productions at Camelot Theatre and The Barn (Sea Ranch Thespians) in 2015 and 2016. The play had its world premiere February 2014 at The Studio @ 620. From director Olivia Genise on the Camelot Theatre production:
“I fell in love with this beautiful play when I saw the reading of it at the Ashland New Plays Festival in 2013. I jumped at the chance to produce it! If you liked Sleepless in Seattle or You’ve Got Mail, you’re going to love this play.”
October 2014 – Suzanne Bradbeer’s The God Game (ANPF 2012) received its world premiere in a co-production between the Gulfshore Playhouse and Capital Repertory Theatre in January 2014. The God Game is available from Samuel French. Hudson Stage Company‘s October production was reviewed by The New York Times:
“Invigorating, flawless, sophisticated, and visibly imaginative.” One of the joys of Ms. Bradbeer’s script is that although it seems awfully familiar the audience can never be sure what’s going to happen next, even in the very last seconds. The script’s other strength is its wonderfully on-target contemporary use of language.”

September 2014 – Bo Wilson’s The Boatwright (ANPF 2013) received its world premiere at Grand Rapids Civic Theatre.
June 2014 – Faded Glory (ANPF 1994) by Tim Burns “Sparkles at North Coast Rep”.
April 2012 – Carol (CJ) Verburg’s Spin, or Twilight of the Bohemians (ANPF 2011) was one of the plays chosen for the Women’s Playwright Series’ 2012 Season. “The WPS is a developmental program dedicated to providing a working forum for the unique and underserved voice of women writing for the theatre today.”
July 2011 – The Insidious Impact of Anton (ANPF 2010) by David Hilder was produced by Absolute Theatre and Full Circle Theatrics at the El Centro Theatre. It won seven StageSceneLA awards. Read a review in the Los Angeles Times here.
January 2010 – Tony Pasqualini’s Loyalties (ANPF 2008) received its world premiere at the Pacific Resident Theatre. Read a review from the Los Angeles Times here.
2009 – Jamie Pachino won the $10,000 Francesca Primus Prize for Splitting Infinity (ANPF 2005). Splitting Infinity was commissioned by the Steppenwolf Theatre and premiered at the Geva Theatre in 2006.
November 2008 – Critics choice award from Los Angeles Times for EM Lewis’ Song of Extinction (ANPF 2008). The play received its world premiere at [Inside] the Ford by Moving Arts. Its awards include The Ted Schmitt Award for the World Premiere of an Outstanding New Play, 2009 Steinberg/ATCA New Play Award from the American Theater Critics Association, and the LA Weekly Theatre Award for Production of the Year. October 2008 – Steven Levenson’s The Language of Trees (ANPF 2007) was presented by Roundabout Theatre Company at the Harold and Miriam Steinberg Center for Theatre’s Black Box Theatre.
March 2003 – Knowing Cairo (ANPF 2001) by Andrea Stolowitz received its world premiere at The Old Globe Theater. Was an LA Times Critics’ Pick, 2003 and earned San Diego’s “Billie” Best New Play Award. It is published by Playscripts Inc. and continues to be produced nationally and internationally.
2000 – Karen Zacarias’ The Sins of Sor Juana (ANPF 1999) was the winner of The Charles MacArthur Prize for Outstanding New Play at D.C.’s Helen Hayes Awards.
November 1998 – The Magic Fire (ANPF 1995) by Lillian Garrett-Groag, which received its world premiere at Oregon Shakespeare Festival in August 1997, was performed in Washington, DC, at the Kennedy Center in the Eisenhower Theatre.
