State of the Festival
Results From The AWE Public Meeting
Announcement |
ArtWork Enterprises has produced the Ashland New Plays Festival for the past 16 consecutive years. Knowing we face new challenges in the 2009 season, AWE held an open meeting in early December to discuss our immediate need for skilled volunteers and to appeal to supportive local residents. At the end of each season, it is the board of directors job to consider the work we've completed and all the requirements of efforts that lie ahead. The need for and purpose of the meeting was a result of those requirements.
Due to a lack of resources, therefore, it is our sad responsibility to cancel the Ashland New Plays Festival for 2009.
Many thanks goes to everyone who participated in this year's events, whether as a volunteer or a patron, an actor, director, tech, or host. And special thanks to those who attended the December meeting with the intention of becoming an active committee leader.
Current Standing
The board of directors has become the minimum number required to maintain the organization's 501(c)3 not-for-profit status. We will continue to look for volunteers who are interested in revitatlizing this wonderful organization, and welcome all inquires. Click here to send a note. Board secretary Mig Windows will reply within a few day's time.
Donations
We are greatful to all our donors, but realize gifts were made with the intention that we would produce more events in 2009. As this is now an open question, we wish to honor the original intentions. If you sent a check to AWE in the last three months of 2008, you should receive a note and a reimbursement before the end of the year. If you do not, please contact Steve Christensen (click here) and he'll correct our error.
